Hey, it’s Russell…

So… a little about me then, ay?

Alright…

First off, I took the scenic route to get into this weird game of direct response and digital marketing.

After about 17 or so dead-end jobs (before and after university), I kind of backed into direct response copywriting.

I was living in New Zealand at the time, and I fell down the rabbit hole that is internet marketing.

More than a few blind alleys later, I ended up writing daily emails for a well-known guru in the space… and once I learned how this game works, I was hooked.

Since then I’ve had the privilege of working with some intimidatingly sharp marketers and copywriters, most recently in the financial publishing and health supplement niches.

I’ve worked with tiny email lists of only a few thousand subscribers, as well as lists of over 350,000 names…

And I’ve come across come pretty interesting things…

For instance:

  • I’ve found that simplicity and clarity often trump persuasion…
  • That the REAL money is not in the list, but rather in the relationship with the list…
  • That the kind of offers you send can account for 40% or more of your success (or failure)…
  • And that if—according to Peter Drucker—the purpose of a business is to create and keep a customer… having a well-managed email list is how you do it.

Most of all, though, what I’ve discovered is an insatiable desire to learn and stay curious.

Which is why I consider myself a perpetual student, not only of this game and my craft, but of the wonky creatures we call human beings.

It’s what makes marketing mean something to me, beyond just the money.

Check out the site, and I look forward to working with you someday soon.

Cheers,

Russell

P.S. I’ve also lived in four different countries in the past 10 years, traveled to at least nine more, and now live between the high desert of Namibia and somewhere near the tippiest-tip of southern Africa (pictured below) with my lovely wife and two beautiful boys.
